🔧 How to Connect Trailer Marker Lights

Marker lights are essential for visibility and safety. At RoadLites, our lights are available in two connector styles to match your trailer’s wiring system: Jumper Prongs and Superseal 2-Pin.

Use this guide to safely connect your lights based on your trailer type.

⚡ Connector Option 1: Jumper Prongs

Used on: Older trailers, custom builds, or trailers with exposed wiring and open sockets.

🔌 How to Connect:

  • Turn off your power source or disconnect the trailer plug from the truck.
  • Locate the light socket on your trailer frame (usually a round grommet or open terminal setup).
  • Align the two metal prongs on the back of your RoadLites marker light with the socket holes.
  • Push the light straight into the socket until it’s snug and flush with the mount. The prongs slide into the trailer's internal female terminal connectors.
  • Ensure the light housing is secure in the grommet or bracket.
  • Turn on your trailer lights to confirm proper function.

✅ Tips:

  • Jumper prong setups usually do not include sealed wiring—make sure your connections stay dry.
  • Use dielectric grease to reduce corrosion inside the socket.
  • Most lights are 2-wire: one for power, one for ground (ensure the trailer frame is grounded).

🛡️ Connector Option 2: Superseal 2-Pin

Used on: Newer trailers, sealed wiring harnesses, Sprinter vans, and OEM fleet equipment.

🔌 How to Connect:

  • Turn off trailer power or unplug the trailer.
  • Locate the Superseal pigtail or harness attached to your trailer frame or light bracket.
  • Match the male and female ends of the Superseal connector (your RoadLites light will have one end, the trailer harness the other).
  • Align the pins and firmly push the connectors together until you hear or feel a click. The rubber gasket inside will form a waterproof seal.
  • Mount the light to the trailer surface or bracket.
  • Reconnect power and test all functions (front white, rear red, side amber).

✅ Tips:

  • Do not force the connectors—Superseal plugs should insert smoothly and click into place.
  • Always verify pin alignment if resistance is felt.
  • These systems are IP67/IP68 rated, making them ideal for harsh environments.

🧰 General Wiring Notes (For Both Types):

  • All RoadLites marker lights operate on 12V/24V systems.
  • They use 2-wire configurations:
    • Black or red wire = power
    • White wire = ground
  • Always mount securely to prevent wire movement or vibration damage.
  • Test the light after install—look for white glow up front, amber on the side, red at the rear if using a 3-function light.
