RoadLites Visits Alvil Trucking in Chicago as Fleet Tests European-Style Outline Marker Lights

In 2025, the RoadLites team hit the road to visit trucking companies in the Chicago area and talk directly with the people who operate commercial vehicles every day.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit with Alvil Trucking, a Chicago-area refrigerated trucking company.

For RoadLites, getting out from behind the website and putting our products directly in front of fleet owners and trucking professionals has always been important. Commercial vehicle lighting has to make sense in the real world—not just look good in a product photo.

Our visit to Alvil gave us the opportunity to talk about fleet operations, equipment, visibility and the differences between traditional North American trailer lighting and some of the commercial vehicle lighting designs that have been used in Europe for years.

Bringing RoadLites Directly to Fleets

RoadLites was created to bring commercial vehicle lighting products from European manufacturer Horpol to the North American trucking market.

One of the products generating the most interest has been our LED auxiliary outline marker lights—the distinctive side-arm or stalk-style lights commonly seen on European trucks and trailers.

Rather than simply introducing these products online, we wanted trucking companies to see them firsthand.

That's what made our Chicago visits so valuable.

Fleet operators can look at the construction of the lights, mounting options, wiring and visibility in person while giving us feedback based on the equipment they operate every day.

Alvil Trucking Pilots RoadLites

During our visit, Alvil Trucking agreed to pilot RoadLites lighting on its equipment, giving the company an opportunity to experience the lights in a real fleet environment.

That's especially meaningful to us.

RoadLites isn't interested in developing products in a vacuum. Feedback from drivers, fleet owners, maintenance teams and other trucking professionals helps us better understand what North American operators actually need.

A light that works well on European commercial equipment still has to make sense for American trucks and trailers, where operating conditions, equipment configurations, wiring practices, loading docks and customer expectations can be different.

Real-world fleet experience helps bridge that gap.

Learning From the People Who Run the Equipment

We also want to thank the leadership at Alvil Trucking for welcoming us and taking the time to talk about the industry.

Building RoadLites has given us the opportunity to meet trucking companies with years of experience moving freight and maintaining commercial equipment.

Those conversations matter.

As RoadLites continues introducing European-style commercial vehicle lighting to North America, we want fleets involved in the conversation—not just after a product reaches the market, but while we're learning how these products fit into everyday U.S. trucking operations.

From Europe to Chicago

RoadLites works with Polish commercial-vehicle lighting manufacturer Horpol, whose lighting products include marker lamps, outline lamps, work lights, warning lights and other commercial-vehicle lighting solutions.

Some of these designs are immediately familiar to European drivers but still relatively unusual on American trailers.

That is beginning to change.

When we bring RoadLites products to trucking companies like Alvil, we're able to show operators the products in person, explain how they're designed and hear directly from the people who would actually use them.

RoadLites Is Looking for More Fleet Feedback

Our 2025 Chicago visits were part of something we want to continue as RoadLites grows: working directly with the trucking industry.

We're interested in hearing from refrigerated carriers, dry van fleets, box-truck operators, vocational fleets, dealerships, upfitters and other commercial vehicle businesses interested in RoadLites products.

Whether you're looking at auxiliary outline marker lighting, work lights, warning lights or other commercial vehicle lighting, we'd like to hear about your equipment and application.
